Claude Code and Remotion: a launch film with sync as a failing check

Claude Code built a 33-second launch film overnight; the repo muxes audio with ffmpeg and fails the build if sync drifts past 1 ms.

Launch film repo: Remotion AAC mux left about 2.5 frames of audio lag, fixed with ffmpeg, with a checklist for agent media renders

A developer gave Claude Code one prompt and got a 33-second launch film back about 8 hours later. Picture, soundtrack and sound effects, all code.

The interesting part of the repo is the render plumbing.

The picture comes from Remotion, rendered muted. The score is synthesized in Python from cues off the same timeline, so every tick lands on its frame.

Two decisions stand out. Remotion's AAC mux left about 2.5 frames of audio lag. So ffmpeg attaches the audio, and a script fails the build if sync drifts past 1 ms. Motion blur composited in Chromium quantized every sample to 8 bits and ringed the gradients. So sub-frames are averaged in float and quantized once.

If an agent renders media for hours:

  • one timeline for picture and sound
  • mux outside the framework
  • sync as a failing check
  • contact sheets for review

An agent can work all night. Give it a check that can fail.
