What this site records.
No cookies, no ads, nothing sold. This is what is logged when you visit, and why.
What is
recorded.
For every page you open: the page, the time, where you came from (the referring site or a ?cv= tag on links in the CVs I send), your IP address, the country and city it maps to, your device type, browser and language.
Clicks on the CV download, email, booking, LinkedIn and GitHub links are counted. For the first page of a visit, the public internet registries (RDAP) are asked which organisation the IP block is registered to, so I can see when a company network reads the site.
Also recorded: how long you actively read each page and how far you scroll, the page's load speed (Web Vitals), searches typed into the site's search box, demo use, copied text, script errors, your time zone, screen size and colour-scheme preference, and UTM campaign tags.
No cookies are used. A random id and a visit counter are kept in your browser's local storage so a returning visit can be recognised; clearing site data removes them. Nothing is shared with ad or tracking networks.
Why.
To see how people find the site, which work they read and whether the companies I apply to open it. It is a one-person portfolio; the numbers are read by me only.
How long.
Visit records with IP addresses are deleted automatically after 90 days. Daily counts (pages, sources, countries, organisations) are kept without IP addresses.
The contact form sends your message to my inbox. Guestbook notes keep the name, avatar and note you post until you delete them.
Where
it lives.
Hosting on Vercel, visit records in Upstash Redis, report and contact emails through Resend, guestbook in Supabase. These services process the data on my behalf only.
Your
choice.
Turn on Do Not Track in your browser and the site records nothing. To see or delete what was recorded about you, write to hello@huseyinkaplan.dev with the approximate time of your visit. Data controller: Huseyin Kaplan, Istanbul. Your rights under KVKK article 11 and the GDPR apply.
